And I think that this is true of numerous ordinary Brits like myself. A dna Viking matching system indicated a genetic similarity most closely relating to the Danish Vikings, as opposed to the Norwegian ones and this included Denmark's islands and southern Sweden.

To me, it indicates that Rollo and his immediate ancestors could have been more Danish than anything else, though you make a good point that his own ancestors, at least some of them, were likely to have come from Norway or further afield Scandinavia. Interesting stuff. YCAII may also turn out to be something other than the vanilla/generic 19-23, we shall see.TrutherDarehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09283129620485093242noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9204252140470830201.post-2447822937203858672016-06-09T05:40:07.349-07:002016-06-09T05:40:07.349-07:00It's all just speculation, none of it is based...It's all just speculation, none of it is based upon the dna results of Rollo, or any descendant down to and including William the Conqueror. On the plus side, there is finally actual testing going on for two descendants remains so we should know something more in the months ahead, finally.TrutherDarehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09283129620485093242noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9204252140470830201.post-32029502248412816282016-05-08T14:57:41.523-07:002016-05-08T14:57:41.523-07:00My question is, Is there any true way, with blood ...My question is, Is there any true way, with blood or bones of "Rollo" to prove this line? I will be adding a link to your work on the profile of William de Warrene on WikiTree - http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Warenne-92 to help people establish true lineage. (I'm reported to be his 22nd granddaughter, but like any researcher, I approach with caution...) I also invite anyone interested in genealogy, and good at working collaboratively, to join us in our mission to create one world tree that connects us all!Solsticehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13898722312166847856noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9204252140470830201.post-78733647023754376832016-03-03T16:37:25.251-08:002016-03-03T16:37:25.251-08:00The term "Dane" in the middle ages was a...The term "Dane" in the middle ages was a common description for people from the Nordic countries (who spoke the danish language / Snorri Sturlason in Heimskringla). At that time it was not attributed to people from modern Denmark alone. I'm wondering if DNA testing could be used to verify this lineage, as it seems many royal people were making claims to these semi-legendary people.
